Hubert Yao's Page.

I am Xinchen (Hubert) Yao, a master’s student in the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Nanjing University.

I received my bachelor’s degree from China University of Mining and Technology, where I worked with Prof. Yonggang Li on using hardware-assisted virtualization techniques to address system security problems. My time there was both enjoyable and formative, and it gave me a solid foundation in computer systems.

I am currently pursuing my master’s degree under the supervision of Prof. Zhiqiang Zuo. My research interests lie broadly at the intersection of programming languages, systems, and compilers.

Rather than focusing solely on theoretical studies of semantic abstractions, I am particularly drawn to problems that sit between programming-language theory and the complexity of real systems. I believe that a good program analysis or runtime design should not only be sound in its model, but also withstand the realities of interpreters, operating systems, and hardware behavior.
